Karma Jiga is the resident monk at Rokpa Dundee, Scotland. During that time he studied with the greatest of Tibetan Masters in Samye Ling, completed retreats of various lengths and was brought from retreat after completing his Yidam practice. For the last 10 years he has founded and established projects on behalf of the Trust, under the direction of the Abbot and Retreat Master of Samye Ling monastery, the Ven. Lama Yeshe Losal. Karma Jiga was the first western monk to be ordained for life by the present abbot. He was caretaker during the formative years of the Holy Island project. Having also established a centre on Arran, which will host the next 3 year retreat for men, he set up the first Buddhist centre in Moscow. Rokpa Dundee was founded by Karma Jiga on behalf of the Trust in 1999 after fundraising, teaching and running meditation classes there for 2 years.

Seven Points of Mind Training

Clive has been involved with Samye Ling for over twenty years, where he has received teachings from the most eminent lamas. He has completed one year of retreat, edits teachings and lectures for publication and has led many meditation courses at Samye Ling and associated centres. The Seven Points of Mind Training is a renowned and effective way of following the bodhisattva path. In his commentary, 'The Cood Vase of Nectar, the Profound Meaning of the Oral Instruction on the Mahayana Seven Points of Mind Training' the 19th century master Zhechen Gyaltsab presents this classical training in a direct and complete way. His teachings are particularly relevant today, when much contemporary culture focuses on the self and encourages us to waste our precious human lives on trivia, as they offer the alternative approach of learning to live for the benefit of others and thereby finding our own fulfilment.

An Introduction to Meditation

Lama Zangmo has been dedicated to the teachings since 1979. During the period 1980-1984 she received teachings from the many great lamas who taught courses at Kagyu Samye Ling in Scotland. As a Buddhist nun she has herself completed three long retreats, 11 years in total. She was retreat-teacher at Samye Ling for the ladies long-term retreat and is authorised to instruct in all aspects of the retreat. Her thorough experience of meditation and vajrayana ritual make her particularly suited to teaching these aspects of practice.
